Battle of the Rock Bands 2019

And the winner is …. Rock and Roll!. Clairvaux MacKillop College hosted the 2019 Battle of the Rock Bands with nearly 1000 people attending over the 2 nights.  There were 17 secondary school bands including 200 student performers who performed over 70 songs.  

The Bands who performed on Thursday included: St Augustine’s College (Big Kahuna Burger) , Loreto College (Hot Sauce), Villanova College (The Jammy Dodgers), Southern Cross College (Sunny Side Up),St Thomas More College (Year 11 Rock Band),  Cavendish Road SHS (Contemporary Combo) and Clairvaux MacKillop College (Datura).

The winners from the Thursday night included:

Percussion: Jordan Massie (Datura)
Bass Guitarist: Mae Carlisle (Datura )
Lead Guitar: Nicholas Charvell (Datura)
Most Outstanding Vocalist: Faith (Contemporary Combo)
Best Musician other: Saxophone players: Rosie Leeson (Hot Sauce)
Most Outstanding Musician overall: Ryan Irvine (Datura)
Band place awards were given to the following bands:
2nd Place: Contemporary Combo
1st Place: DaturaThe Triffid Performance Prize for the Runner Up Most Outstanding ROCK Song Performance of the evening: Contemporary Combo - Cavendish Road
The Triffid Performance Prize for the Most Outstanding ROCK Song Performance of the evening: Datura - CMC


The Bands who performed on the Friday evening included: Carmel College (The Acquaintances) , Cannon Hill Anglican College (CHAC Rock Band), Emmaus College (Project ROK), Chisholm College (All the Way to Eleven), St Joseph’s College (Terrace Rock Band), the Franciscan Combined Colleges Rock Band (Earth Wind and Beyer), St Peter’s Lutheran College (The Pulse), John Paul College (Exit 24), and MacGregor State High School (Boys at the Back).

The winners from the Friday evening included:

Bass Guitarist: Caspar Gregson (Exit 24 )
Lead Guitar: Will Caton (The Pulse )
Most Outstanding Vocalist: Emma Cobb (Exit 24)
Best Musician other: Entire Horn section (Earth Wind and Beyer)
Most Outstanding Musician overall: Iz Wilson (Exit 24)
Band place awards were given to the following bands:
2nd Place: Boys at the Back - MacGregor State High
1st Place: Exit 24 - John Paul College
